Welcome to the first Junior Triathlon at Hough End

The event is going to be held on Saturday 30th August from 14:00 at Hough End Leisure Centre. The swim will take place in the 6 lane swimming pool, before going to the transition area out on the fields to start the bike loops which will be around the playing fields. It will be on grass, however, the surface is flat and subject to any bad weather prior to the event, should be suitable for all types of bikes. Once the bike is completed, it is back to the transition area, to then go on the run, which is again on the grass around the playing fields. Once you have completed the required laps it is through the finish line to complete the triathlon and time to celebrate.

Race Distances and Categories Available

The event is open to everyone from 8 to 16 years old (as of 31st December 2025) across all the categories – Tristart, Tristar 1, Tristar 2, Tristar 3, Youth A.

Each category will do the following distances:

The youth category will start first at 14:00 and we will work backwards from there with the swimming being finished by 17:00. Details about your start time and when you can register will be sent out prior to the event.

In order to take part in the event you will need to either have a British Triathlon Membership, or have a Race Pass – which can be bought as part of the entry process.

If you are already a British Triathlon member you must bring your up to date race licence with you to registration.

If you are not a current British Triathlon member, in order to participate in these events, you are required to become a member of British Triathlon and hold a race licence. You must either become a Core or Ultimate annual member here https://www.britishtriathlon.org/join
